What I wore to my first wedding

Okay so, no, this post is not about my own actual wedding, nor does it imply that I plan on having multiple weddings.

It's about the first wedding I attended as an adult guest. Sure, I've been a flower girl a few times in my life but you don't really feel the magic then. All you know is that your poof of a dress offers no real mobility and that you lost half the petals in your basket before the bride had a chance to walk on them down the aisle.

But now that I'm older, I definitely felt that magic. And of course, I had to make sure to embody that magic in my outfit. I couldn't have them catching me in the background of that wedding video looking just anyhow.

So I kept my outfit simple and clean, but all the way elegant.

My top is from Cotton On, it's the Astrid Cami in white. I chose it because it's quite simple and clean, and adds a fresh element to the entire look without taking too much focus away from other parts of the outfit. Plus who doesn't love wearing white on a gorgeous sunny day in Spring? My jacket (in case it gets chilly because you never know with Cape Town), I have a super stylish cropped blazer from MRP in black to balance out the rest of my colours.

For my bottoms portion of my look, I decided to go with a simple slip skirt in a really stunning teal colour. It's easy, it's breezy, it's beautiful but it's not Covergirl, it's actually TFG. Slip skirts are very trendy right now but what I love most about them is their versatility. I'm convinced that no matter your personal style, a slip skirt can be worked into it and nothing excites me more than a super cute versatile item. So, I opted for this one as a crucial part of my look. It's a knee-length skirt and is made with a bias cut so it almost kind of an A-line shape and fit, instead of a more figure-hugging one, which I really like.

My shoes are a simple black strappy sandal with a midi block heel. I got them from Utopia, they were originally a full sandal but I had the heel straps removed to make them a slip-on because I like that look a lot more and it made them fit a lot more comfortably.

This is a variation of the Lexi Underarm Bag from Cotton On. It's a baguette-style shoulder bag with a foldover flap closure. It has a glossy black finish and a faux croc skin texture. The glossy finish ties in really nicely with the shoes and the texture adds something unique to the bag so it really stands out, which I like.

As usual, I topped off this look with gold accessories because I seriously cannot help myself it seems. With this look, I had a soft, wide v-neck from the cami so, I chose to keep that fresh open Spring look with a bare neck and instead wore a pair of chunky wide gold hoops. Also in the spirit of freshness, I maintained the demure look and by adding a light Figaro link gold bracelet from my favourite affordable jewellery boutique, BOA.

And that wraps up my first wedding look! It really was a great wedding and an added bonus to this look is that it allows for full mobility on the dance floor. Nothing says Holy Matrimony like the videographer catching you dropping it like it's hot in front of some inlaws.
